Today, individuals are allowed access to their health information, skills, and descriptions of the many tools that can lead to imporved health and well-being. Family members are always included in teaching when present and can enhance ones’ decision making. Within changemaker health, individuals and families have the skills to practice self-awareness, mindfulness, and empathy so that they can effectively help others and are equipped to make decisions for themselves based on their own health objectives rather than on social or environmental pressures (Ashoka.) There are now accomodations made the the patients feelings and can allow them to have several options before choosing what option they would like to endure and have proceeded with. There are several risk factors and benefits that should be described to the patient before allowing them to make their decision. Empowering them and allowing them to make decisions has enhanced the outcomes for many. When obtaining surgical consents, the patient has several questions asked like whether they wound consent to blood if deemed necessary, they should always be involved in their care and allowed for questions and concerns to be voiced.
