Public health issues are those that have a vast impact on the health status of the population. Conclusion: different issues impact personal life, but they also significantly impact the population’s health status. Among the several public issues, the incidence of type II diabetes in the young generation has been increased.
Diabetes is one of the disorders either found because of lack of insulin production or, sometimes, there is a genetic disorder. Individuals having genetic disorders lack the enzyme that produces insulin. As a result, the glucose level of suffered individuals remains up.
The concern to discuss the topic these days is the increasing number of young diabetics. People with diabetes were the disorder associated with older adults, but now the trends have been changed. The young generation is facing more issues, and there are several reasons behind the onset of diseases (Lawal, 2008).
They have a sedentary lifestyle, and their diet is not good enough to reduce the risk of being diabetic. There is always a need for awareness for young people to change their habits and eat healthily. Moreover, the public issue needs to address the risk factors after the onset of diabetes as well.
The question arises of how public awareness can be increased, so the answer lies in social media. Social media is used for different purposes, so it is used to reduce the existing risks and create awareness among the people. Health promotion is done on social media by posting educational resources, educational adds and inspirational videos. Some social media influencers, famous artist, musicians, and role models can help thru social media channels by providing screening videos, educational adds, share their personal stories if they have gone thru any of this public health issues and they can create more awareness and call the attention for the younger generations.
Diabetes is controlled by quitting the sedentary lifestyle, waking up early in the morning, sleeping early, and taking a good diet. Diabetes is not a newly emerged disorder, but the number of young people suffering from it increases. Social media can help through videos, images, and several other things to overcome diabetes in youngsters (Thapa, 2015).

Obesity is a severe public health issue that needs to be addressed. The Covid-19 outbreak has dramatically amplified this issue due to lockdowns. However, it was still a top public health problem way before the outbreak of coronavirus. According to the Centre for Disease Control, the CDC reporting obesity affects more than 13.7 million children and 93.3 million adults in the United States (Lee et al., 2020). This paper has thoroughly discussed the ways in whichsocial media can be utilized to improve public awareness of obesity.
Firstly, social networking platforms can facilitate integrating internet community networks and access to health care providers via secure chat forums and instant messaging (Yang et al., 2020). Because these services can be accessed at any time and with greater anonymity than face-to-face communication, they may improve access to support and care. These networking services could also provide a chance to increase data collecting to conduct a complete analysis of obesity habits, risk factors, comorbidities, and the success of weight-loss preventive and treatment activities.
Additionally, by taking advantage of the vast reach of current technologies, social networking services can be used to develop a cost-effective and population-based strategy to diagnose, treat, and prevent obesity and its associated non-communicable diseases (Fang et al., 2021). Furthermore, these networking services offer real-time features such as feedback, consultations, and forums for peer support, so that the intervention can be highly contextualized and individualized.
Lastly, nationally financed, coordinated mass media and social marketing strategies can be developed through social media. These social marketing strategies can be used to promote physical activities through consistent messaging and branding.
In conclusion, social media can help create public awareness on obesity and help urge individuals to get off the couch and move through campaigns that influence individual behavior.
